Chevron Hassett (Chev) was awarded this week a Change Maker, Community Service Award at the New Zealand Youth Awards.

Chev is an inspiring young man who we’ve been fortunate to have work with us over the past few months, and we were honoured to be able to nominate him for the award. We nominated Chev because of the awesome work he has done mentoring boys out in Taita – especially those from single-parent families and disadvantaged backgrounds. Chev’s background in jiu-jitsu and art/design allowed him to guide boys, and give them the tools to follow a positive path in life.

We want to say a big congratulations to Chev, and urge everyone to check Chev and his work which can be seen in a Vice article here, and through his website.

Ngā mihi nui Chev, and all the best for this year!
