Google and others want the web to be more secure. Google has announced that from July, their browser (Google Chrome) will mark as “not secure” the sites that are not using the security protocol HTTPS.

This security requirement will also have SEO repercussions as it is considered a ranking factor by the search engine and it will probably gain more importance after that, penalising the ranking of the sites that don’t use it.

We recommend that you also take certain steps before making the switch in order to make sure that your rankings don’t get affected; crawl the current site, update references, update tags, force HTTPs with redirects, update sitemaps, update robots.txt and others.
