The team here at GSL Promotus were lucky enough to get the chance to work with the team at ‘Conservation Volunteers Wellington’ in helping them reach their goal of planting 15,000 native trees in Wellington this year as a part of their ‘Forest at the heart of Wellington’ project.
The first part of the day involved, collecting and loading over 1,000 native trees from the nursery to a truck, to then be transported to selected locations around Wellington for planting. After all the heavy lifting was done it was time to move on to the second part of the day – the planting! Along with a handful of local volunteers, the team went up to Mount Victoria and planted a handful of different species of native trees. With 9,000 trees already in the ground the ‘Conservation Volunteers Wellington’ is well on their way to achieving their target of 15,000 by the end of the year.
